Painting FAQ

Why Acrylic Paint?

Acrylic is the most common and versatile type of paint. Artist’s recommend using acrylics if you're new to painting because of the vibrant colours that mix well, while they dry quickly and clean up with water. Acrylic dries into a durable, flexible, water-resistant surface.

Where Should I Begin?

There are various ways to start a painting, from sketching with a pencil, blocking in rough areas of colour to doing a detailed
underpainting in a single colour. No one approach is more correct than another.
It's a matter of personal preference. For inspiration, there are so many amazing artists, styles and techniques for acrylic painting, and we are fortunate that they all have images and tutorials across the internet and social media.

What are primary colours?

The three primary colours are red, blue, and yellow. In paint colour mixing, these three colours cannot be made by mixing other colours.

Mixing Colours?

If you mix two primary colours, you create what is called a secondary colour. Mixing blue and red creates purple, red and yellow make orange, and yellow and blue make green. The exact hue of the secondary colour you've mixed depends on which red, blue, or yellow you use and the proportions
in which you mix them. The Artfly provides an artist’s palette to make mixing colours easier.

Should I Clean a Paint Brush?

Clean your paint brushes thoroughly with water every time you finish painting for the day.
